Parokya Ni Edgar are well-known in the Philippines for being jokesters, writing funny songs with off-beat themes. The band consists of six members who were formed in Ateneo High School in Manila, Philippines – Chito Miranda, vocalist; Vinci Montaner, back-up singer and dancer; Darius Semana, guitarists; Gabriel CheeKee, guitarist; Buhawi Meneses, bassist; and Dindin Moreno, drummer. They got together thinking it would be fun to write and sing songs for their own entertainment.

Originally called Comic Relief, the band performed parodies of well-known songs. In 1994, they began performing at Club Dredd in Manila, a place known for alternative music. The crowd didn't know what to make of their performance but their crazy outfits and stage antics made them local favorites and they were eventually signed to Universal Records. Before long, they drew the crowds and the songs that they wrote to amuse themselves had found a new audience. They're known for being irreverent, obscene, wacky, funny outrageous and almost everything else, yet they've been attracting packed crowds at Club Dredd and everywhere they perform.

The band certainly has come a long was since its days in high school. In 1996, Parokya Ni Edgar's debut "Khangkhungkerrnitz The Album" went platinum in six months. A year later, their second full-length album, "Buruguduystunstugudunstuy" found the band dealing with more serious material while maintaining their comedic moments.

All in all, Parokya Ni Edgar has released six albums with an endless string of hit singles, lots of music awards, including the prestigious AWIT awards for album of the year, best new group and best rock performance. They also went on to win the 1999 Southeast Asia Video Music Awards Viewers Choice Award and several members of the band were nominated for individual awards.

With their growing fan base and new-found fame came many endorsement deals for different companies, including Coca-Cola and Mitsubishi Motors. Parokya Ni Edgar has far surpassed all expectations and maybe that's exactly what was needed – someone to make us smile.

Their music is definitely "out" there – outrageous and outstanding.
